Service Manager

Purpose of Position

To have a principal role in developing, coordinating, and supporting overall service department operations, sales activities, systems, team members, and related functions.

Requirements:

  • Education – This position requires a college degree or equivalent with 3 to 5 years of industry-related experience and/or training as a plus.
  • Language Skills – Requires the ability to read, write, communicate, and interpret accurately in English. This position requires the ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and desk procedures. The employee must demonstrate the ability to interact tactfully, positively, and strategically with customers, vendors, and the UKTS team.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret bar graphs and reports. Calculation and understanding of profit and loss statements.
  • Computer Skills – Proficient in Microsoft products. Excel is a must, and the ability to operate other office equipment. Strong knowledge and experience in using service operating systems is a plus. The ability to navigate Windows based software quickly and efficiently. Use of all current technology as a communication and efficiency tool is a must.

Essential Duties

  • Oversee the daily operations of the service department.
  • Develop and execute all department growth goals.
  • Create personal development plans for team members.
  • Build, develop and solidify relationships with all customers and team members.
  • Develop a master plan for increasing the efficiency of our systems and job processing.
  • Build knowledge in all aspects of service operations, including but not limited to repair orders, invoicing, estimating, warranty processing, repair procedures, etc.
  • Develop a team to carry out all needed service-related needs and functions for both shifts.
  • Utilize and develop the Fusion operating system and other technologies to their full capacity to maximize department efficiency and profits.
  • Establish a technician recruiting program.
  • Develop and coordinate a technician training plan and system.
  • Lead and manage company safety culture program.
  • Promote technician productivity and general morale through verbal communications and assistance with production-related needs.

  • This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, schedule, or diagram form and the ability to use sound judgment when faced with complex circumstances.
  • The ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations is essential while maintaining a professional, calm manner when negotiating with a difficult customer or employee.
  • The position is assigned to the service area where noise levels are moderate to high.
  • The physical exertion is moderate to heavy. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
  • There are steady employee and customer contacts.
  • Requires the ability to operate a personal computer, smartphone, multi-line phone, calculator, and other basic office equipment.
  • It may require a very seldom safe operation of a tow motor or pallet jack as needed.
  • The position may very seldom require the use of electric hand tools used for cutting aluminum, wood, and steel.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and drive. A valid driver’s license will be required to operate UKTS vehicles.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
